I installed a simple privacy latch on the door of my OVRLND Camper

Hey guys and gals! Back for another ramble about my OVRLND Campers truck camper. In my Eastern Sierra Trip Notes article last week I made a comment about needing a privacy door latch for the main rear barn door. While not a major issue, I wanted to tackle this sooner rather than later — especially since I use my camper daily at work.

Why I need a simple privacy door latch for my OVRLND Camper barn doors

To put it simple, the latches that OVRLND Campers installs on the doors are good — really good. They are snug and tight, and make for a strong seal to keep out any air and bugs. I have zero complaints about their system. BUT — being so snug and tight — the kids have a hard time sliding those latches for daytime bathroom usage and clothing changes. That might have been the best $6 I’ve ever spent.

I’ve been using this latch the past few days and it’s working flawlessly. Just this morning I had to climb into the camper for 20 minutes. Didn’t even bother sliding the made latches. This was just a billion times easier.

It’s not going to keep weather out. It’s not gonna keep the little tiny flying bugs out (that’s what the bug screen is for). But for quick ins and outs, this is perfect. My 10 year old could never slide those latches on her own. We always had to close it up from the outside and wait there for her while she changed or used the restroom. Now she’s free to go in there on her own and lock it from the inside. Of course and night when it’s time for bed we’ll be locking down the camper properly — as the fine people at OVRLND Campers intended.
